UKRAINE EYEING SECOND WIN AGAINST ARMENIA

Ukraine have a second straight win in their sights ahead of the game against Armenia in the current UEFA Nations League campaign. Hosts Ukraine and Armenia meet at the Stadion Miejski LKS in Lodz, Poland on Saturday afternoon with the same target. The two teams are looking for their second win in Group B1.

Armenia are looking for a second win from their third Group B1 game ahead of the away game against Ukraine. On their part, Ukraine are looking for a second win from their second Group B1 game.

Ukraine have played just one game in the group till date after they were involved in the World Cup 2022 playoffs. The Ukrainians won’t be going to the World Cup tournament in Qatar later this year after they were beaten by Wales in their playoff final clash. Ukraine qualified for the playoff final by beating hosts Scotland 3-1 in their playoff semifinal clash with the likes of Art-em Dovbyk and Andriy Yarmolenko on target for the winning team. Yarmolenko scored an own goal in the playoff final to give Wales a spot at the World Cup in Qatar via a 1-0 win.

In their only Nations League game in Group B1 till date, Viktor Tsyhankov scored the only goal of the game four minutes into the second half to give Ukraine a 1-0 away win over the Republic of Ireland. It was the second defeat for the Irish team from two games in their group. The home defeat to the Ukrainians came on the back of the 1-0 loss at the home of Armenia with Eduard Spertsyan responsible for the only goal of the game. In their second group game, Anthony Ralston and Scott Mc Kenna scored in the first half as Scotland beat Armenia 2-0 at home. It was the first game for Scotland in the group.
